Summer Carnivals – Beating the Heat

Published by funplanner under Carnival

This weekend we had 2 similar events but with two totally different approaches:

The first was an evening carnival for a local hospital. It was held in the evening, taking advantage of the longer summer daylight hours and the reduced temperatures of the evening hours. This outdoor event had lots of activities for children including some of our larger inflatable’s, the Giant Slide at 20ft is nearly 2 stories high and the 60ft long obstacle course race. As we were outdoors for this event we also provided the Rock Wall. The later evening hours provide less direct sun making it cooler and more enjoyable. The Carnival booths have roofs to shade the games (rain or shine)!

The second Carnival of the weekend was held inside a Ballroom in one of Orlando’s Premier hotels. Regular size inflatable’s can be used in most large ballrooms and the carnival booths can be set up anywhere. This provides a comfortable and controlled atmosphere not only sheltering from the rain but in the case of Florida high temperatures in the summer a respite the heat.

Both the Carnivals had a few ‘sit down’ activities including professional Face Painters which all children enjoy.

So to beat the heat we use our experience to  “plan fun” inside or take advantage of what the Florida climate offers and use it to your advantage.

Celebrating July 4th Rain or Shine

The City of Taveres asked us back again (4th year in a row) to supply entertainment and fun for their Independence Day celebration, located at the beautiful Wooton Park on the shores of Lake Dora.

We provided several  inflatable’s to cover children of all ages, a bounce house for the little ones, the huge 60ft  Swamper Stomper giant obstacle course, 2 player Jousting and the always popular with the older kids a 30ft Rock Wall. We also brought out the Water Tag Maze which is great on hot days, the players get to soak each other with water guns while running around a tactical maze.

The music for the event was supplied by us with a live band playing a wide range of music for all ages.

As we all know here in Florida, you can pretty much guarantee it’s going to rain on July 4th …. And this year was no different! With all our summer events we always try to plan a rain back up, meaning a place the guests can go to keep enjoying the festivities. We also supply more suitable indoor games in case we have last minute change of plans due to the weather forecast.

However, this was the City of Taveres main event…. Where can you put a city park full of people??!! We went ahead with the event with an 80% chance of rain according to the local forecast, the local residents turned out in force for the party and braved the rain. There was a giant marquee for the band so people took shelter there and in the many Gazebos in the park during the worst of it.

The Water Tag Maze was open and busy throughout the rain, kudos to our attendant on this game who was soaked thru to the skin for most of the day! We kept the other inflatables open as much as it was safe to do so, deflating them trying to keep the insides dry and re-inflating them  and drying them off when the rain eased up.  The rain did let up in time for the fireworks which was a great display in time with patriotic music.

Thanks goes out to the local residents who turned out to support their local community and celebrate Independence Day with a bounce and a bang…..even in the rain!!

Bringing the Tropic’s Indoors

A few days ago one of our clients wanted to hold a tropical themed party and having chosen Orlando, Florida for the event soon realized that our June daytime temperatures were far too hot.  We at Fun Planners burst into action to bring the tropics to an air-conditioned Ballroom at one of Orlando top resorts.

Staying with the tropical/Caribbean theme we used some of our Carnival themed games such as Coconut Bowling and the always fun Crab Races. Our creative design team built authentic props in-house to add to the tropical theme using truss covers of reed and an assortment of stage settings.

Outdoor Event Planning

When planning an outdoor event in Orlando you have to prepare yourself for all/any possibilities. The weather in Florida is normally sunny and great but as you know it can get extremely hot and there is the possibility for severe weather to pop up out of nowhere.

While planning your outdoor corporate event or company picnic here are some tips to consider to make sure your event goes a smooth as possible:

1) In case of severe weather, try and pick a spot that will have some type of shelter if it is needed.

2) If  the event is rain or shine, be sure to put that on the invitations.

3) For a very large event with many attendees, have a section on your website for event updates or send out emails alerting people to any changes in date, time, entertainment, etc..

4) Be sure to advise sponsors or exhibitors in advance how you plan to handle cancellations. Have it in writing as to when they can expect their money back and make sure to stick to your promised time line. You don’t want to upset people willing to support your event. Handling them promptly will encourage sponsorship of your next event.

Top 5 Signs You’re at a Bad Company Picnic

Published by funplanner under Uncategorized

Top 5 Signs You’re at a Bad Company Picnic

5) The bounce house is a tent with an air mattress in it.

4) The entertainment consists of a balloon animal making clown that only make snakes, worms or eels.

3) The O’dourves being served are Vienna Sausages wrapped in fruit roll-up.

2) The music sounds like a Chipmunk/Johnny Cash remix.

1) The rock climbing wall is a 12 foot sheet of plywood with old, used flip flops nailed to it.

This list was made to give you a good laugh but most importantly, to remind you that it would be a good idea to have the event planner you choose  show you examples of the equipment and entertainment that they use. Ask to see the caterers menu too.

The key to a successful corporate picnic is to diminish any surprises. This is best accomplished by asking a lot of questions in advance and having the event planner prove that the quality of games, rides, and food are exactly what they are promising.

Creative Fundraising Helps Non-Profit Organizations Across Central Florida

Fun Planners specializes in Florida non-profit fund-raising events. Below is a re-post of several very successful examples of our fund-raising events. When planning a fund-raising event, think outside the box!  Throw a luau complete with a surf machine! You want to impress your guests and make a lasting impression so they will be eager to attend next year’s fund-raising event too.

In a time when fund-raising is of essential need, Fun Planners is right there to help make central Florida Non-Profit organizations not only meet their goals, but many times exceed them. We at Fun Planners wanted to share some of our unbelievable fund-raising successes that we assisted with over the last few months.

Planning a fundraiser is easy when Fun Planners is involved with our expert strategic techniques and knowledgeable Event planning staff . We have raised millions of dollars over the past 10 years with a wide array of organizations using Poker Tournaments, Casinos, Carnivals, and Inflatable events.

We thought out of the box on this one in which Fun Planners and Space Coast Early Intervention Center – (a premier non-profit center that supports the care and maximum development of young children challenged by disabilities) were able to accomplish a team building activity that surpassed anything we could have ever imagined. Alongside SCEIC, the Brevard County businesses, and the Space Coast community, Fun Planners assisted in the “Corporate Challenge” Team Building event on June 13, 2009, raising $12,000.00 to aid these children and their families who need it the most in these hardest of times.

UCF in collaboration with Fun Planners accomplished an overwhelming attainment with the “Knight-Thon” event held on February 21, 2009. This was a huge success and involved 350 participants that engulfed themselves into an overnight extravaganza of exciting events such as a dance competition, Carnival Games, Casino Games, Mechanical Bull, Rock Wall, Surf Machine, along with some Air Hockey, Foosball, and Pool tables. This great fund-raising idea from UCF and Fun Planners with the expertise planning of the Fun Planners staff surpassed the goals and netted a whopping $53,000.00 which was more than double the previous years contributions. This $53,000.00 was raised in the name of the Children’s Miracle Network and was shared by two wonderful organizations – Arnold Palmer and Shands Children’s Hospital.

If you or your organization needs assistance in planning a fundraising event please give Fun Planners a call and let us help you surpass your goals.

Corporate Game Room Events

Why spend time outside in this HOT Florida Sun when you can have your corporate “picnic” indoors. There are so many indoor activities nowadays that when outside isn’t an option (unless of course you want to swim in your sweat) you can still have a good time. Last week our team did corporate game rooms at various locations such as OmniChampions Gate , Hilton on I-Drive, The Double Tree at Sea World & Universal.

Our clients wanted an event that their employee would remember and have a good time. We brought various games such as pool tables, Foosball tables, dart boards, arcade games and photo booths. (Search ALL of our Products) In a case where you might need a caterer we can also help you find a local Orlando catering company that will fit your needs.
